On Monday, September 17, 2018, the Trappist brewery “De Kievit” presented its second beer ‘Zundert 10’ to the ITA Board of Directors. After tasting, discussion and voting, the beer received the ATP label for a period of 5 years. This label not only certifies the Trappist origin of the product, but also provides the consumer with a guarantee that the purchased products are in compliance with the standards of quality and values of an existing Trappist community.
Zundert 10 is a quadruple with a spicy note. This Trappist beer is a deep reddish brown color with a pretty light beige head. The aroma carries a hint of dried tropical fruits, sultry herbs, licorice, and a bit of chocolate. The taste is soft and full, balanced with a nice hop bitterness. Zundert’s characteristic spiciness subtly returns in the aftertaste.
The Trappist brewery “De Kievit” is one of twelve breweries in the world authorized to use the “Authentic Trappist Product” logo. The beer is brewed by the monks themselves within the walls of the monastery, and has a limited production.
